Abstract:

BACKGROUND: With developing computer technology, virtual technology enable students to observe the spatial three-dimensional structure, vibrant colors, clear hierarchy, the real texture, and with interactive interface, the establishment of virtual laboratories, and the abandonment of face to face teaching become possible.
OBJECTIVE: We demonstrated human anatomy specimens by virtual three-dimensional technology, and made the clarity, texture, importation of the datas easier comparing to traditional two-dimensional modeling, ultimately to bring online-remote-education virtual anatomy laboratory into reality.
METHODS: With self-developed semi-automatic three-dimensional specimen data importing hardware system (3DSDIMS), we make a full range importation of anatomical specimens to form a database. And we setup a display system with software (DSS) providing relevant documents, audio commentary and other material.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The 3DSDIMS is functional and capable to convers a specimen into digital image data within five minutes. The data can directly input to the database and can provide demonstration through DSS for remote display. Compared with traditional two-dimensional animation picture, three-dimensional specimens display is easier to use, not consumption, easier to expand, three-dimensional virtual system has a good prospect of teaching in anatomy and medical science education.
