Abstract:

BACKGROUND: Traditional treatment for femoral head necrosis is debridement surgery. This surgery is difficult to clear the lesions completely and easy to damage the normal tissue. The image guided surgery improves surgical quality by medical images, tracking system and virtual display.
OBJECTIVE: To construct a mathematical model of the femur and then develop a surgery system for avascular necrosis of femoral head.
METHODS: On the basis of MC algorithm, a mathematical model of the femur is constructed. Point data were fitted to geometric primitives by using geometric features including point-based registration and surface-based registration. The interactive function between two-dimensional and three-dimensional image is realized.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Experiments shows that the surgery system for avascular necrosis of the femoral head developed in this paper meets the requirements of orthopedic surgery because its error is less than 3 mm.
